The Testing Laboratory is a wing of the R&D Centre of PIBCO LTD. (Founder by Prof. B.C. Raychaudhuri.)
The Testing Laboratory is a wing of the R&D Centre of PIBCO LTD. Which is a Private Organisation and is a member of the R.P.PUNJ GROUP OF COMPANIES & ASSOCIATES (Annex.A1) PIBCO LTD. started functiong in 1966 for the production of Resin Bonded Mineral Fibres. It took collaboration with the renowned Johns Manville International, P.O. Box 6108, Denever Colorado- 8017, U.S.A, for setting up its manufacturing Plant at Durgapur, West Bengal and the duration of the Collaboration was from 10.04.1968 to 29.09.1978. The collaboration was not renewed after that; as the technology had been totally absorbed by then.
At present the Group, manufactures Thermal and Accoustic Insulation materials and products, it also produces water proofing materials, sealing mastics, fire proof puttys, coal tar, outerwraps, roofing felts etc.
Several mineral wool fibres are in the process of development for defferent applications other than the thermal insulations. These have been successfully tested in the laboratory. Performance evaluation trials have been done in the manufacturer's plants. After obtaining the feed-back data, modifications, were done, efforts will be made for commercialisation after satisfactory development.
An In-House R&D Centre with proper infractructure for standard testing facilities is an essential requirement of a manufacturing organisation for achieving and sustaining manufacture of quality standard products, quality assurance, product upgradation, product diversification etc. The main policy of the R&D centre is to achieve and maintain a high standard of quality in all aspects of the working of the R&D Centre.
By organising suitable testing facilities for raw material analysis and corresponding product properties. The results with advice for quality improvement to be fed-back to manufacuring units as a continuing exercise.
The work on Quality Assurance Programmes is a continuing activity of the R&D Centre of all the manufacturing units.
By a co-relation wi th analysis of physico-chemical properties of raw materials, mix ratios, finished products and process parameters towards obtaining a partIcular end product and keeping liaison with the manufacturing units for getting proper feed back.
